Joy Lim Nakrin

Joy Lim Nakrin is an Emmy-nominated anchor and reporter for necn and NBC10 Boston. She helped launch NBC10 Boston in January of 2016 after anchoring and reporting for FOX 25 News in Boston for several years. You can see her anchoring necn This Morning, necn Today and NBC10 Boston News at Noon, along with providing reports for NBC10 Boston Today.

Joy’s interest in covering regional politics, crime and justice comes from her extensive legal background. She is a licensed attorney with memberships in both the Massachusetts Bar and American Bar Association. She holds a Juris Doctorate from Duke University School of Law, and briefly worked at law firms in both the U.S. and Japan. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Haverford College, completed a visiting scholarship at Harvard University and earned legal credits at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan.

Before settling home to serve as a journalist in Boston in 2013, Joy spent three years as an anchor/reporter in Minneapolis at ABC affiliate KSTP-TV, along with two years as an anchor/reporter/producer at FOX Connecticut. Her tenure in American local news follows a three-year stint in Asian television, which includes anchoring for ESPN Asia in Singapore, guest hosting for MTV Asia and appearing in a Malaysian reality television series. Joy’s anchoring for ESPN Asia was broadcast live to more than 24 countries from the network's headquarters in Singapore.

Joy proudly volunteers in the local community, serving as a committee member for the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center and supporting the local MSPCA.

She is also a proud rescue dog mom to rottweiler Mortimer, pit bull Gertrude and dachshund Oliver. Having grown up on a horse farm in rural North Carolina, she loves animals and the outdoors. But since her family settled in Boston in 1998, Boston has been and is home.
