JOE JOYCE
Joe Joyce is NECN’s weekend meteorologist. He joined NECN in August of 1997 after working at WVII-TV in Bangor, Maine for two years. He graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Joyce also has a degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University, and is a contributing member of the Blue Hill Weather Observatory and the American Red Cross. He has earned an AMS Seal from the American Meteorological Society and is certified by the National Weather Association. Joyce grew up with a deep love of the weather. He thrives on the challenge of forecasting New England weather and enjoys the changes of the seasons.
TIM KELLEY
Tim Kelley has been the primetime meteorologist with NECN since the station’s launch in 1992. His keen intuition and strong grasp of diverse meteorological tools have translated over the years into the delivery of consistently accurate weathercasts. Although Kelley has been studying weather since he was a child, his formal training in meteorology was gleaned at Lyndon State College in Vermont. He began his career at WMUR-TV in New Hampshire, then spent three years as a meteorologist and environmental reporter at WLNE-TV in Providence, Rhode Island. A Cape Cod native, Kelley enjoys working with educators to incorporate the science of meteorology into school curriculums.
MATT NOYES
Matt Noyes began as the weekend meteorologist at NECN in 2002, and has been the weekday morning meteorologist since 2004. Matt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Cornell University, and is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. Matt enjoys making the weather interesting and accessible to all. In addition to his forecasting experience, Noyes was an instructor of Introductory Meteorology at the college level in Binghamton, NY. He spearheaded the idea for NECN’s "Weather Word Contest" and "Sky Scenes" segments, and has traveled across New England to bring the science of meteorology into school classrooms, receiving a commendation from the Massachusetts State Senate for his educational efforts with children. Matt's community dedication also earned him the Massachusetts State Police Public Service Award for assisting the organization in preparation for a major hurricane strike to New England, and he provided his services to the organization for street level weather forecasting and analysis during the Democratic National Convention in 2004. Noyes also conducts private forecasting for aviators, providing forecasts that have led to national victories in races requiring no use of instrumentation during flight. Before joining the NECN family, Matt was the Morning Meteorologist at NewsChannel 34 in Binghamton, NY, and a meteorologist at NewsChannel 9 in Syracuse, NY.
DANIELLE NILES
Danielle Niles, a Weymouth, Mass. native, joined NECN in Nov. 2008 as a meteorologist. She was previously employed at Weather Services International in Andover, MA, as a forecaster for private energy companies.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be working in New England, forecasting with such a dedicated and talented Weather Team at a news station that is well-respected across the entire region," Niles says. “I have had a passion for the weather ever since I was a little girl, and working as a broadcast meteorologist has always been a dream of mine."
Ever since she was young, Danielle has shared an enthusiasm for severe weather, blizzards, thunderstorms and hurricanes to name a few. She has even been storm chasing in the Midwest where she saw her first tornado last year.
Niles is a 2006 cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts/Lowell where she earned her bachelor's degree in atmospheric science, and was captain of the women's varsity soccer team. She also earned a master's degree in meteorology at Florida State University and is a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS).
