SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - The Connecticut Huskies finally won one for their slain teammate, handing Notre Dame and coach Charlie Weis a second straight bitter defeat on senior day.

Andre Dixon scored on a 4-yard touchdown run in the second overtime to give the Huskies a 33-30 victory, their first win since cornerback Jasper Howard was stabbed to death.

"Jazz this is for you," coach Randy Edsall said, referring to Howard by his nickname. "Best win we have ever had."

Holland scores 21 as Boston U. beats Indiana 71-67

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - John Holland scored 21 points, Jake O'Brien had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Boston University rallied to beat Indiana 71-67 on Friday night in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

Tyler Morris added 13 points and five assists for the Terriers, who rebounded from a narrow loss to Kansas State in the opening round. Boston U. (1-3) did most of its damage inside, outrebounding the Hoosiers 52-32 and scoring 19 second-chance points.

Russia may face sanctions for doping in skiing

MOSCOW (AP) - The head of skiing's governing body says the Russian ski federation and Olympic committee could face sanctions if there are more doping cases in the country.

International Ski Federation president Gian-Franco Kasper said Saturday that "we are not happy with what is going in the Russian (ski) federation."

Four Russian cross-country skiers were banned for two years last season after testing positive for EPO. Three Russian biathletes were also given bans this year for having used the same endurance-booster.

Playoff repeat: Magic beats Celtics 83-78

BOSTON (AP) - Kevin Garnett missed last season's playoff series against Orlando with a knee injury. Rasheed Wallace signed with Boston after it was over.

But the Magic made a key offseason pickup of their own.

Vince Carter scored 10 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, including a tiebreaking fadeaway jumper with 2:33 left to give Orlando an 83-78 victory over Boston on Friday night.

Carter, who came to Orlando in the offseason as part of a five-player trade, took 29 shots, a season high and his most in almost three years.

FIFA: France-Ireland result stands

ZURICH (AP) - FIFA has ruled out the possibility of replaying the disputed France-Ireland World Cup qualifier.

The sport's governing body replied Friday to an appeal from the Irish soccer federation to replay the match because France striker Thierry Henry handled the ball to set up the deciding goal in extra time in the 2-1 aggregate win.

FIFA says "the result of the match cannot be changed and the match cannot be replayed. As is clearly mentioned in the Laws of the Game, during matches, decisions are taken by the referee and these decisions are final."

Bergeron's shootout goal gives Bruins 4-3 win

ATLANTA (AP) - Patrice Bergeron scored the only goal of the shootout and the Boston Bruins snapped Atlanta's four-game winning streak, beating the Thrashers 4-3 on Thursday night.

Boston halted a three-game slide, which included two overtime defeats. The Thrashers at least picked up a point when Maxim Afinogenov scored with 41.4 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime.

South African ministry: Semenya keeping gold medal

JOHANNESBURG (AP) - The South African sports ministry says 800-meter world champion Caster Semenya will keep her gold medal, and that the results of her gender tests will be kept confidential.

The ministry also says international track authorities have agreed to allow Semenya to keep her prize money.

On Wednesday, the IAAF said the gender tests performed on Semenya had not yet been completed. The body had been expected to announce its findings Friday.

Celtics rebound with 109-95 win over Warriors

BOSTON (AP) - Rajon Rondo scored 12 of his season high-matching 18 points in the third quarter and the Boston Celtics rebounded from a two-game skid with a 109-95 win over the short-handed Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.

Paul Pierce, who missed a day of practice with a sore left knee, scored 19 on 7-of-12 shooting. Playing without a wrap on the knee, Pierce made a key 3-pointer after the Celtics went on a 12-0 third-quarter run to take control.

The Warriors had just nine players in uniform and eight played.

Boston Celtics encourage students to 'Stay in School'

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Members of the Boston Celtics hosted a school assembly today in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood to honor high-achieving students.

Marquis Daniels, Kendrick Perkins, Lester Hudson and Glen Davis met with students at the Timilty Middle School, and spoke about the importance of staying in school.

This season marks the 19th year of the Boston Celtics "Stay in School" program in Boston schools.

Moulson scores twice in Isles' 4-1 win over Bruins

BOSTON (AP) - Matt Moulson scored two goals and Dwayne Roloson stopped 28 shots to lead the New York Islanders to a 4-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Monday night.

John Tavares also scored to make it 3-1 - a goal that was originally credited as Moulson's third of the game before being corrected on review - and Trent Hunter added an empty-netter with 49 seconds left.

Tuukka Rask made 17 saves and Daniel Paille scored for Boston, which killed off all five penalties and have not allowed a goal in 22 consecutive power plays.
