Senior citizens involved in fantasy football

|

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - The Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center started fantasy football, a game that has mostly been the all-male domain of twentysomething office pools and barroom bettors, early this fall, in hopes it would liven up ho-hum Sunday afternoons for its elderly residents.

Now, halfway through the season, the league is more successful than Beaumont's recreation assistant Lindsay Benedetto ever thought possible.

Wild scene at High School soccer game in RI

(NECN/WPRI) - It was a wild scene in Providence, Rhode Island where a fight broke out at a girls high school soccer game.

The teams from Woonsocket and Tolman High School were playing for the Division Four state title.

Late in the game, with Woonsocket leading 5-0, two players bumped into each other.

After some pushing and shoving, punches were thrown, and there was some hair-pulling.

The two teams were separated and the game was ended with Woonsocket the winner.

But during the trophy presentation, another fight broke out in the stands between fans.

Brady, Moss push Patriots past Dolphins

(NECN: Foxborough, Mass.) - That old connection of which Patriots fans grew so fond in 2007 returned on Sunday to propel New England to a 27-17 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Tom Brady hooked up with Randy Moss on two key plays -- both resulting in a touchdown by the end of each respective drive.

Midway through the first quarter, Moss streaked down the right sideline. Brady lofted a pass toward Moss, who plucked the ball out of the air with his right hand. Defensive back Vontae Davis, who was stride-for-stride with Moss, brought him down at the 1 yard line.

Miami's two touchdowns came on possessions on which it used the wildcat most extensively - after gaining just 36 yards on 21

For the Patriots, defensive end Jarvis Green was inactive after undergoing knee surgery.

Celtics bounce back to keep Nets winless

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Boston's Big Three against New Jersey's Great Eight had the look of a mismatch.

Instead, the Celtics had to work hard to keep the injury-decimated Nets winless.

Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce each scored 16 points, and Boston bounced back from its first loss of the season with an 86-76 victory Saturday night.

It was a struggle though, as the Celtics could never pull away from a Nets team that barely had enough players to start a game.

"I didn't think we had a lot in the tank. I could see that,
