Sports BOSTON (AP) - Patrice Bergeron's goal with 52 seconds left in
regulation helped the Bruins avoid a historic third straight
shutout, but Michael Cammalleri scored in the shootout to give the
Montreal Canadiens a 2-1 victory over Boston on Thursday night.
Boston had not scored in 192 minutes, 6 seconds, dating to
Vladimir Sobotka's goal at 7:02 of the third period against
Edmonton on Saturday. The Bruins had not been shut out in three
straight games since Eddie Shore and the 1928-29 squad scored just
once over five games from Feb. 2-14, 1929.

Top Stories | Sports (NECN: Boston, Mass.) - The Boston Red Sox acquired 25-year-old outfielder Jeremy Hermida from the Florida Marlins for pitcher Hunter Jones and minor league pitcher Jose Alvarez, the team ammounced today.
Hermida hit .259 with 13 home runs and 47 RBI in 2009 for the Marlins. The former first-round pick has been nagged by injuries in recent seasons, and has yet to meet the expectations the Marlins had for him when they selected him 11th overall in the 2002 draft.

Sports | NECN Extra (NECN: Boston, Mass.) - 23-year-old David Krejci of the Boston Bruins has been diagnosed with the H1N1 (swine) flu.
"We just gotta deal with our own issues and hope that he gets better quickly," said head coach Claude Julien.
"We do the best we can...there is no guarantees, we are all vulnerable to it," said Julien.
"He needs to be quarantined until he is symptom-free," said Julien.
"We've installed a bunch of hand sanitizers," said Julien.

Sports | NECN Extra (NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Boston Bruins forward David Krejci has been diagnosed with the H1N1 (swine) flu. Today, the 23-year-old's teammates reacted to the news, and what they are doing to avoid the virus and keep their minds on the ice.
"I'm looking forward to tonight. It's my second game against Montreal since last year," said Steve Begin.
"We've been having trouble the last few games...would be great tonight to score some goals," said Begin.
"I hope he gets better. He will," said Thornton. "He'll get healthy and we'll get back to work with him," said Shawn Thornton.

Sports (NECN/ESPN: Bronx, N.Y.) - The New York Yankees regained their place at the top of the baseball world Wednesday night, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 in Game 6 of the World Series, claiming the organization's 27th title.
It was a return to glory for longtime Yankees Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Petitte and Jorge Posada. But the victorious taste of champaign was a first Alex Rodriguez and newcomers Mark Teixeira and Nick Swisher, to name a few.

Sports NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Yankees bolted from the dugout even
before the last grounder was scooped up. After waiting nine years
for championship No. 27, no one would dare hold them back.
"It feels better than I remember it, man," captain Derek Jeter
said. "It's been a long time."
Hideki Matsui tied a World Series record with six RBIs, Andy
Pettitte won on short rest and New York beat the Philadelphia
Phillies 7-3 in Game 6 on Wednesday night, finally seizing that

helping the Boston Celtics remain undefeated with a 92-90 victory

Sports PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Paul Pierce scored 21 points, Rasheed
Wallace had 20 and the Boston Celtics remained unbeaten with a
105-74 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night.
The Celtics improved to 5-0 even without the usual standout
performances from Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.
Allen didn't score his first field goal until the third quarter
and had five points. Garnett made just one basket on seven shots
and scored three points when he was yanked with the game out of
hand.

Sports WASHINGTON (AP) - Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West is
facing additional weapons and traffic charges in connection to his
Sept. 17 arrest in Prince George's County, Md.
The 26-year-old West was indicted Tuesday on two counts of
carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of carrying a handgun, two
counts of transporting a handgun, and one each for reckless driving
and negligent driving. Each weapons count carries a penalty of up
to three years in prison.

Sports FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Patriots defensive end Mike Wright
could get more playing time after Jarvis Green reportedly underwent
knee surgery that is expected to sideline him for at least one
game.
Wright leads New England with four sacks. His role in his fifth
season with the team increased when Richard Seymour was traded to
Oakland before the opener. Green walked through the locker room
Tuesday without a visible limp and declined to talk with reporters.
