"Model School" program may save Mass. millions

(Scot Yount, NECN: Norwood, MA) - A model school. We are not talking curriculum, we're talking architecture, and it's a way to save millions in this sinking economy.

Norwood, Massachusetts is one many communities taking advantage of the new pilot program.

It works by recycling good design. The idea is that part of the high cost of building high school is the design team starting from scratch each time. Treasurer Tim Cahill thinks that doing that over and over is a waste of money.

Regionally -- Bloomberg’s New England index is up nearly two. The New England tech stock index tacks on about a point.
