Review: No. 9 Park(TV Diner) - No. 9 Park has been on the Boston restaurant scene for over ten years, and is home to James Beard Award winning chef Barbara Lynch.
Her culinary empire has expanded to four other restaurants in that time, so we decided to see if things are still as good as ever at No. 9 Park.
Review: Led by James Beard award winning Chef/Owner Barbara Lynch, No. 9 Park has been setting the standard for fine dining in Boston for over 10 years!
Inside the intimate dining room, a taupe palette, dark woods and antique chandeliers combine to create a warm and inviting space.
The menu features both Italian and French dishes and offers the diner a choice of ala Carte or 3-course price fix.
We started off with one of Lynch's signature dishes, the Prune Stuffed Gnocchi.
Served with foie gras, toasted almonds and vin santo, the only way to describe this decadent dish is... out of this world!
Fluke Sashimi with preserved lemon, pickled garlic and Thai chili was incredibly fresh, the Thai chili offering a slight kick to the artfully presented fish.
For the entrees Seared Tuna with octopus confit, grilled vidalia and sauce romesco was equally fresh in taste and also beautifully presented.
Delicate, cylinder shaped pieces of tuna were perfectly seared on the outside, keeping the inside raw and the chilled rings of octopus and light, silky romesco sauce were the perfect subtle accompaniment.
Roasted Ribeye with oxtail, fiddleheads and pommes tournees consisted of 2 rather small yet very flavorful pieces of meat, cooked to perfection and topped with shredded oxtail.
The only disappointment to this dish were the potatoes, which seemed to need a little more time to cook!
For dessert, Liquid Chocolate with espresso genoise, earl grey crumble and toffee, sounded and looked far more impressive then it tasted.
The liquid chocolate center was not nearly chocolate enough to satisfy our sweet tooth and the portion was so small it could have been described as "bite sized!" Cherry Clafouti with Szechwan pepper glace, marcona almonds and crème fraiche was light and refreshing yet also pretty bland, a somewhat unsatisfying end to an otherwise excellent meal.
Dinner at No 9 Park is expensive with all Appetizers priced at $19 and all Entrees priced at $39.
The Waitstaff is knowledgeable and attentive, and the service is phenomenal.
Based on a unique fine dining experience consisting of exceptional service, and an artfully presented, overall delicious meal, served in an intimate and elegant setting, No. 9 Park earns the Gold Plate.
