(TV Diner) - The latest member of the restaurant family, that includes the popular, Block Five Bistro and Bocado Tapas Bar in Worcester, is Mezcal Tequila Cantina. Here guests are welcomed into an intimate south of the border setting, featuring over 100 different tequilas and a menu of Mexican classics and southwestern inspired cuisine.

Our meal began with the delicious guacamole tasting flight prepared in the dining room. It featured a basic, a tropical, and a crunchy guac with almonds, and corn nuts on fresh tortilla chips. We also tried the shredded BBQ duck quesadillas with bacon, beans, and flavorful asaderdo cheese atop a sweet-hot slaw. Fabulous flavors!

Our entrees started with tender steak chimichanga, sautéed mushrooms, onions and cheese. Which, while looking great, left us looking for a bit more flavor. We also tasted the crunchy and flavorful blue corn crusted tilapia. It was cooked perfectly with a tasty creamed corn sauce and barbecue beans with bacon.

Our meal was completed by the excellent, crunchy on the outside and still moist in the center, churros with chocolate dipping sauce and the coconut and cornflake encrusted fried ice cream.

It took a while for our server to notice us at our table, but once she did the service was friendly and attentive.

Appetizers range in price from $4-$13, entrees from $12-$23, and desserts are $7. More expensive than your average Mexican restaurant, but this isn't your typical Mexican restaurant.

With its simple yet creative menu and beautiful presentations, this addition to the Worcester restaurant scene is certainly a welcome one.

Overall Mezcal Tequila Cantina earns the Gold plate!
