Review: Quan's KitchenReview: Quan's Kitchen
(TV Diner) - It may sit in a run-of-the-mill strip plaza, but there is nothing ordinary about Quan's Kitchen in North Attleborough, Massachusetts where Asian cuisine is served up in style.
This 175 seat restaurant features a classy bar, elegant sushi station and dining room lined with unbelievable photographs taken by owner Eric Quan.
We began with a bowl of hot and sour soup. We savored the flavor of the broth rich with slivered pork, vegetables, and tofu. Next, the six large skewers of tender tasty teriyaki chicken were pure delight.
Divine .....best describes the beef with ginger and scallions in hoison sauce. Tender meat, razor-thin slices of ginger and savory scallions, blended with an OUT OF THIS WORLD soybean-based barbecue sauce.
And the vegetable moo shi was another wonder. This Mandarin dish of lily flowers, mushrooms, cabbage and bamboo shoots served with pancakes was vegetarian enjoyment to the max.
Unlike many Asian eateries, Quan's Kitchen offers a dessert menu from which we made two cool choices. A bomba of vanilla and chocolate ice creams with a cherry heart was embraced in a chocolate shell and topped with whipped cream. Pure cold comfort. The same could be said for a refreshing lemon sorbet centered with limoncello and coated in meringue.
Service is exemplary at Quan's Kitchen. Our friendly and knowledgeable waiter was attentive without being intrusive and even brought warm moist cleansing cloths at the end of our extraordinary meal.
Value also gets high marks, with soups around $4; appetizers averaging $7, entrees about $12 and desserts $5.
For its stylish East meets West décor, fresh fare, reasonable prices and splendid service, Quan's Kitchen will earn the very rare Platinum Plate.
Open daily, Quan's Kitchen is located at 625 East Washington Street - that's Route 1 - in North Attleborough, Massachusetts.
