Review: Robin Hood Free Meetinghouse

(TV Diner) - Robin Hood's, located in Georgetown, Maine, is a colonial home built in the mid 1800s.

It's now the culinary home of Chef Michael Gagne, named Chef of the Year in 2008 by the Maine Restaurant Association.

Review: The pristine 1855 Robin Hood Free Meetinghouse sat along the country roads in Georgetown, Maine.

The beautifully set tables, original wide floor boards and authentic gas lamps, made for a fantastic ambiance as we checked out the sophisticated menu.

Opening with the Black Sesame-Crusted Rare Tuna. The toasty crust over the prime tuna was just scrumptious. With the acidic bite of pickled ginger and the heat of wasabi -- it was a show case appetizer.

With tons of mushrooms, the Warm Mushroom Salad, surrounded dressed greens, offered nutty flavors of pecorino cheese and ground hazelnuts, created a tangy balance of quality ingredients.

The flakiness of the Baked Haddock enfolded sweet julienne vegetables into a roll. On a soft bed of tasty seasoned noodles and peas, it was outrageously innovative and delicious.

The Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Leg, somehow stuffed the boneless poultry with pork and pistachios. Sliced into pinwheels, that sat in cider sage juice, next to a sweet corn mash. Unbelievable taste!

Desserts were unique with a beautifully crafted macaroon gelato sandwich, served next to a pot of dark homemade chocolate sauce. These chewy coconut cookies were decadent comfort food!

A Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut, with Cider Crème Anglais, filled with the spicy flavor of cinnamon.

Again, satisfaction supreme!

Service was outstanding, with even the owner touching every table. Prices were an impressive value, with appetizers averaging eight dollars, twenty-three dollars for entrees and eight dollars for desserts.

The Robin Hood Free Meeting House personifies elegance in all areas of dining, from detailed service and presentation, to the captivating fare, served in a serene setting, with first class nuances like watermelon mint sorbet, to "clear the palate" between courses and the owner's own seventy-two layer world-famous biscuits.

Without a doubt it earns the Platinum Plate.
