Reviews: Beach Street Pub and Grill(TV Diner) - The Union Bluff Hotel's popular restaurant Beach Street Pub & Grill features mouthwatering sesame crusted ahi tuna, and Bang's Island mussels.
Tucked under the Union Bluff Hotel in York Beach, Maine, the Beach Street Pub & Grill, had a relaxed pub flavor in atmosphere with a bar, high side booths and small tables, overlooking the water.
We started with the Maine Crab Cakes on spicy pepper aioli and vinegar spiked watercress. They were faultless in taste and texture. The Grande House Salad was generous in nice greens, goat cheese, toasted walnuts, fruit wood smoked bacon slices and moist strips of hot grilled chicken-very nice!
The Grilled Salmon as our first entrée was a good choice. The nicely cooked fish came with wilted spinach and mixed vegetables that were a bit heavy on the oil in preparation, but, all in all, satisfying.
A Pesto Rocked Tomato Sandwich was built on a large grilled roll with a chunk of mozzarella, slice of tomato, baby greens, lots of pesto - which made for an okay sandwich.
The Carrot Cake was not particularly noteworthy, a bit bland and tasting like a supermarket dessert. The Chocolate Brownie was extremely burned. Even the ice cream with caramel and fudge sauce did not come to its rescue.
The service was quick and courteous, although our waitress was not knowledgeable about the dishes. Prices were solid, for the bountiful servings, with appetizers at $5 to $13, sandwiches averaging $8 and entrees $12 to $21 and desserts at $5.
The Beach Street Pub & Grill offers a choice of pub or dining room seating in a nice location overlooking the beach. Tables are elbow to elbow near the windows, but booths are an option.
