Unums(Review) Unums - Nashua,NH
Chef Briana at Unums cooks up New England seafood and hearty meat dishes on a nightly basis, and is the only chef to receive 5 stars by the Nashua Telegraph. So naturally, we checked it out!
Unums is tucked into a quiet neighborhood in Nashua, New Hampshire. A street level entrance lined with tables opened the way up to a subtly lit bar and large dining area. The décor set the mood for Mediterranean and the extensive menu boasted of a "journey with taste."
The Crabmeat Remick was tossed with chili sauce, green onions, fresh lemon and garlic and baked with Parmigiano Reggiano. Sensational.
The remarkable Roasted Beet Salad with goat cheese, caramelized onion and toasted cashews was punctuated with citrus segments giving the earthy vinaigrette of molasses and pomegranate an incredible combination of flavors.
The first entrée of Roasted Rack of Pork on red apple chutney and sausage was delicious in its rosemary pan jus.
Unusually de-boned, the thick piece of meat could be cut with a fork.
The Half Chicken with Dijon Mustard Glaze and Red Potato Stew simmered Cognac soaked vegetables under moist meat. A delightful country dish.
Desserts brought the best bread pudding we had ever eaten-loaded with chocolate chips, it was a creamy comfort.
The chocolate cake was an old fashioned layer cake, deeply flavored with a smooth frosting-a perfect ending to a hearty meal.
The service couldn't have been better. Prices were incredible for the amount of food appetizers average $10, entrees comfortably ranging from $18 to $32 and desserts $7.50.
Unums brings central Italy to New England. It is fine dining beautifully presented in a stylish restaurant.
Unums earns the Platinum Plate.
