Cooler Times, But Not For Long

Spectacular for spectators and athletes alike today! Just as things were heating up, the sea breeze kicked into high gear and dropped us from 70s to 50s. Boston actually topped out at 67 degrees, then fell into the 40s by evening.

A very effective sea breeze indeed.

And also a prelude to a very sharp cool front tonight and early tomorrow. It should set back those near summer-like highs today in Hartford and Springfield (near 80 in both cities). Along with clouds, it should keep us in the 50s along the coast both Tuesday and Wednesday.

But this is just a two-day stand of cool temps. Already warm weather is conspiring to bring us back to the 70s later this week.

It's almost the same setup as last week with us starting on the cool (east) side of high pressure and ending on the warmer (west) side by the end of the week. Once again, plentiful sun will aid in holding high temperatures near normal through Wednesday, then catapult us into the warmth by Thursday.

Long range, there's not a lot of warm weather in the pipeline. Pattern turns pretty chilly after this weekend and with a large pool of cool air sitting overhead in the jet stream, we just can't turn on the heat.

Translated: enjoy those 70s later this week.
