Well that was a huge letdown.
While we were hoping for at least a quarter inch of rain around Boston, we had a paltry .06 in the city and .07 on the North Shore. Others fared a bit better Metrowest with a bit less than a quarter of an inch.
Just enough to wet our lips, but not get a drink.
There are more opportunities ahead, but here again, we're not making any promises for water, and we certainly aren't looking at a widespread soaking in this setup.
A weak area of low pressure will approach Saturday night and slow to a crawl on Sunday. It's presence will mean a heightening chance for wet weather in the second half of the weekend. May take until late Sunday to see the wet weather in Eastern Mass/NH and Southern Maine.
Still, with a feeble drift from the east in the mid-levels of the atmosphere, and just enough humidity, the prime spots for heavy rain - and most importantly slow moving storms - seems to be in the Berkshires, The Green Mountains and the Northern White Mountains. Keep an eye to the sky if you're visiting these locations Saturday night and Sunday.
This weather system unravels on Monday, and while there may be enough moisture for a few showers, it's not looking like a good setup for steady rain. Lots of clouds and cooler low/mid 70s are on tap though.

Warmer next week with humidity and heat building late. At this point, I'm rooting for two potential tropical systems in the Atlantic to come at us (in weakened form, of course) to bust this miserable drought.
