Scattered showers and thunderstorms have developed across New England with frequent lightning, small hail and brief heavy rain. Any storm or shower activity should diminish around 7 p.m. with the loss of daytime heating, and temperatures this evening will be the 80s for most, with south-southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight will be warm and still humid, with areas of low clouds and fog. Low temperatures will be in the upper 60s to low 70s, with southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
On Wednesday, morning clouds and patchy fog clear out in the afternoon. It will be mostly sunny and dry except for the slight chance of an isolated afternoon shower, mainly across the interior. Highs in the mid to upper 80s and it will still be humid. Showers are possible across the northwestern portions of southern New England and the North Country Wednesday night into Thursday. Temperatures drop a few degrees, but humid conditions continue.
We’ll see a weak cold front moving south into New England Friday, stalling across the area through the weekend. This will be the focus for showers and thunderstorms with the main threats being heavy rain and lightning. Urban and poor drainage flooding is a strong possibility. However, severe winds or hail are unlikely.
