At 6:05 p.m., doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. The storm was located near Narragansett, moving south at 15 mph.

The NWS confirmed that a tornado did not touch down in Rhode Island; however, straight line winds around 60 MPH were reported in the area of Old Boston Neck and Boston Neck Road in Narragansett. Most of the damage were large, downed tree limbs that were southerly facing.
