Boston Mayor Walsh: Avoid Icy Sidewalks

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is warning people to be cautious of icy sidewalks as freezing temperatures return after a one-day warmup.

Walsh asked residents and businesses to salt sidewalks and remove ice from their property ahead of cold temperatures forecast beginning Sunday night and continuing through Tuesday.

He also asked Boston residents to clear snow, ice and trash from catch basins and storm drains to help prevent flooding.

Walsh asked people to check on family, friends and elderly neighbors.

He said property owners are being encouraged to have a contractor check their roof because of a historic amount of snow and ice that has collected in recent weeks, and to beware of roofing scams.
