Conn. Gov. Malloy Can't Attend Meeting With Obama, Biden Due to Weather

Winter weather is forcing Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy to cancel his plans to attend a meeting with the president and vice president in Washington, D.C.

The Democrat was scheduled on Tuesday to attend the Third Annual Executive Committee Meeting. The event was organized by the National Governors Association.

But Malloy's office announced midday that winter weather conditions in Washington had delayed Malloy's flight to the point that he would have missed the meeting.

Each governor who serves on NGA's nine-member executive committee was invited to attend. The group has authority over issues involving federalism, homeland security, the federal budget and federal tax policy.

On Wednesday, Malloy will take the oath of office for this second term as governor. Wednesday will also mark the opening day of the General Assembly.
