Searching For Sun

How much more can you stand?

This pattern is really testing everyone's patience. We've technically started solar summer - the three month period (May-July) of the longest days and most solar insolation (incoming solar radiation) of the year. And what do we have to show for it? Highs in the upper 40s.

Yep. Boston's high of 49 was more typical of March 19th!

We can cast blame on the chilly ocean temps, but that's only part of the story. It's quite simply the lack of sun, the frequent showers to cool the air and a wind off the water. We need that trifecta to keep the 40s in play along the coast.

I see another day like that ahead - Thursday. But before we get there, we have another weak weather system to roll through here tomorrow. Great news about that is the steadiest rain will wait until evening and overnight. Bad news is we won't see any sun...again.

Plainly put, Thursday is drizmal (dismal and drizzly). Highs again will disappoint and frustrate, but there is a sliver lining to Friday's forecast.

Although rain is once again expected, we will see the winds turn more southeast in the afternoon, giving us a reprieve from the 40s along the coast. What's more is that the 60s return for the weekend as the pattern starts to unravel.

Next week is looking like the polar opposite of this week. Warmer southwest winds, plenty of sun and a whole new pattern. 70s should come early and often, with a possible run to 80 or better by mid to late week.

Keep up the good fight.
