MassDOT Getting Ready for Winter 2016

With the first day of winter this upcoming Monday, Massachusetts Department of Transportation workers have started to pull out the tools of the trade.

State transportation officials say they're ready for the winter of 2016.

Thursday, MassDOT rolled examples of all the things it has to keep state highways and roads clear for the upcoming season, which includes a high-tech weather system that monitors conditions around the state, allowing resources to be shifted to where they're needed most.

MassDOT has purchased new tools following last year's storms and can now press as many as 4,000 pieces of snow removal equipment into service if needed.
