“We are floating in a house that is now floating down the river,” those are the last words Laura McComb said to her sister before the house she, her husband and children, and another family were swept away in. They were vacationing in Wimberley, a town between Austin and San Antonio. No one has heard from Laura, her children or the other family since that last call.
As some of you know, I grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and attended the University of Texas in Austin and I am devastated by the horrible floods and storm that continue to punish the state.
Yesterday, a dam ruptured in Bastrop County, Texas, located east of Austin and the water flooded homes and roads in its path. The picture above was sent to me by my friends Natalie Esquivel & Mike Deloach who live in Austin. It is at West and 5th Avenue.
