Rainy Couple of Days Precede Mostly Dry Holiday Weekend

It was nice to see breaks in the cloud cover earlier this evening after a gloomy start, but more clouds will stream in ahead of our next system after midnight tonight.

Fairly mild conditions stick around through the rest of this evening and through the overnight under partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Thursday morning starts off dry before the leading edge of showers reach the southern coastline and will continue to spread north and eastward through the morning. By noon, the leading edge will reach southern Vermont, New Hampshire, and with heavy downpours around the Boston-area.

We’ll see the onshore wind, making it feel slightly cooler. Highs Thursday reach near 60, with many barely making out of the 50s.

We start off wet on Friday with the heaviest of the downpours advancing northeastward, stretching the line of downpours from Cape Ann all the way to Downeast Maine, along with the onshore wind. Timed with the astronomically high tides late Thursday into early Friday, minor coastal flooding and splash over cannot be ruled out.

We dry out slowly Friday, from southwest to northeast, by 6 p.m., which is great news for your Memorial Day Weekend plans.

Saturday looks pleasant with highs into the mid to upper 60s under more sunshine than clouds.

Sunday brings some more cloud cover, but most of the day will be dry, with a chance for some hit or miss showers advancing in from the west by the late evening.

Memorial Day Monday brings another round of hit or miss showers to the forecast, with highs into the low to mid 60s.

As far as the extended 10-day forecast, the trend is up, with highs into the 70s by the following weekend, just in time for the first weekend of June.
