Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Part of Connecticut, Rhode Island

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds, destructive hail and deadly lightning

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued Monday afternoon for portions of Connecticut and Rhode Island, but has since expired. 

The warning was for Northeastern New London County in Southern Connecticut until 4 p.m., and for Northern Washington County in Rhode Island is until 4 p.m.

The locations in Connecticut impacted included Norwich, Colchester, Griswold, Lebanon, Preston, Lisbon, Sprague, Bozrah, Voluntown, North Stonington, Jewett City and Franklin.

Some of the Rhode Island locations included South Kingstown, North Kingstown, Narragansett, Hopkinton, Richmond, Exeter and West Greenwich. 

Severe thunderstorms can produce damaging winds, destructive hail, deadly lightning and very heavy rain.

For your protection, you should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business. You should not drive in areas where water covers the road.
