Snow Headed for North Country Mountains

Upslope snow results from a wind pushing up against the mountain faces

HD_FRONTS

Here at NECN, we're forecasting at least 1"-3" of "upslope snow" for the NW mountain faces of VT, NH and perhaps some of ME Friday night into Saturday morning.

Already a heads-up from VTrans that Friday night/Sat AM, Northern Green Mountain snow may close Rte. 108/The Notch around Stowe, VT.

Upslope snow results from a wind pushing up against the mountain faces, thereby forcing the air upward to create enhanced clouds and bursts of precipitation - in this case, a northwest wind in air warm enough for raindrops during the day Friday, but cold enough to support snow overnight Friday night into Saturday morning.

We'll add more detail and an accumulation map soon, as the setup gains more clarity.
