Several flights out of Boston's Logan Airport have been affected due to snow in other states (Published Friday, Jan. 22, 2016)

For the first time this year, parts of New England are getting measurable snow, and while we won't get the jackpot, like the Mid-Atlantic, the cancellations and delays are mounting at Boston's Logan Airport.

"My connecting flight...I won't make it, so I'm stuck here, and I'll stay in Boston for the weekend and watch the Patriots game," said Matt Mandel, who's trying to fly to Palm Beach.

By about 9 pm, there were about 120 cancellations at Logan and more than 80 delays according to flightaware.com.

Mass. Emergency Management is also warning anyone who travels within the next 24-36 hours to monitor the forecasts and modify their travel plans.

There's a blizzard warning for Martha's Vineyard, and a winter storm warning the South Coast, Cape Cod and Nantucket.

In New Bedford, there's already buckets of sand across the city for residents to use, and the city is planning to open an emergency shelter.

They also have a fleet of 120 trucks ready to hit the roads.

Mayor Jon Mitchell said, "Here in New Bedford we're going to get 8-10 inches, which makes us the bulls eye."

Another concern is the high wind gusts that could down trees and power lines.

"My biggest concern is really power outages under the circumstances, because we'll have a heavy wet snow and the wind will be blowing," said Mitchell.
