Rainy Morning and a Sunny Midday, Possible Thunderstorms in the Afternoon

The cold front that brought yesterday’s severe weather across New England slides overhead today. Sunshine will break through clouds around noon with scattered showers and maybe a rumble of thunder or two during the afternoon and evening.

Highs reaching into the low to mid 80s, cooler at the coast in the 70s.

A strengthening southwest flow will result in gusty winds up to 30 mph. These strong winds will churn up the ocean with waves cresting up to 7 feet just offshore. A High Surf Advisory is in effect along south coast.

A quiet night is on tap across New England under partly cloudy skies. Drier air mass streams into the region with lows falling back to the mid to upper 50s across the interior and low 60s at the coast.

Mostly sunny day on Wednesday for the first day of astronomical summer with a chance of showers as a disturbance and a weak cool front traverse across New England. Highs reach into the low 80s, upper 70s across the north and at the coast.

An area of high pressure noses into New England on Thursday, giving way to a pleasant and seasonable day with sunny skies and highs reaching to near 80 degrees south and mid to upper 70s across the north.

The next area of low pressure approaches the region from the Great Lakes on Friday. Clouds and humidity on increasing southwest flow build as the day progresses with highs reaching into the low 80s.

A series of cold fronts will bring showers to the region for the start of the weekend. Sunday is looking like the pick of the weekend as weak high pressure builds in from the south between fronts.
