2013 Hurricane Season Names Released

(NECN) - Between June 1 and November 30, the Atlantic coast will battle the 2013 hurricane season. And today, the National Hurricane Center gave us the names they'll be using for this year's storms.

This year's list includes names like Barry, Humberto, and Olga, among others.

The naming system has been in place since 1953, and runs on a six year rotation. This means that the names we hear this year will be recycled and reused in 2019. Particularly deadly or damaging storms are an exception to this rule, with the names of those storms being retired.

As the start date for the 2013 hurricane season approaches, be sure to stay safe and stay tuned to the latest updates with NECN weather.
