The flooding has shut down downtown Peabody. The water is knee-high in many places.
All day, people have been coming down, looking in disbelief.
The water goes through buildings, across yards, down streets and all over downtown.
Jay Ward has been keeping a nervous eye on the situation. His apartment is a couple of feet from the current edge of the water.
The problem is not new to Peabody. Four years ago, the center of town flooded for five days.
Now, residents and business owners just hope this water moves through quickly and doesn't linger like last time.
