Beating the Heat in Boston

(NECN: John Moroney, Boston) - The coolest spot in Boston's North End, the fountains along the Greenway offer a bit of relief from the hot, steamy weather.

The city is baking like a bean, prompting a heat advisory for the entire weekend. Everyone is urged to take proper precautions, especially older people, who are getting automated calls to remind them to be careful.

It's a holiday weekend, but the crowds at Faneuil Hall seemed a little less energetic.

That was not the case for a New York City dance group that has been performing in Boston since the start of the heat wave.

Along the Charles River, in the city's Brighton neighborhood, there was a small breeze while people hoped a water excursion might help cool them down.
