Boston Declares Snow Emergency; Public Schools Closed Wednesday

(NECN) - Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has announced that a snow emergency and parking ban will go into effect in the city at 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Additionally, Boston Public Schools will be closed Wednesday.

"Our team is ready for this storm," Walsh said in a news release. "We're expecting a very difficult morning commute, and for that reason, we're urging everyone to use public transportation to travel in and around the city tomorrow."

Parking will be prohibited on all streets marked with "Tow Zone No Parking During Snow Emergency" signs. Alternate parking can be found here.

Discounted parking at several lots and garages is available for Boston residents beginning at 9 p.m. See more information about that here.

City Hall will remain open Wednesday.
