Chicago Hit With Flash Flooding

(NECN/WGN: Chicago, Illinois) - Overnight torrential downpours have caused flash flooding in parts of the Chicago area.

The rains flooded basements and forced expressway closures.

The state department of transportation and state police closed the entire Eisenhower Expressway -- east and westbound -- earlier Saturday morning due to high standing water on the road.

The west suburb of Westchester appears to be among the hardest hit.

Meanwhile, 50,000 homes and businesses have lost power.

ComEd says it has about 180 crews working to access damage and make repairs.
