Deadly Storms Claim 6 Lives in Midwest

(NECN/NBC News: Jay Gray) - More than a hundred tornadoes ripped through the heartland this weekend, tearing away anything in its path.

Now as survivors sift through the pieces left behind, there are some things in the strike zone that can't be cleaned up or carried away.

Overnight the office of Emergency Management confirmed another death in Woodward, Okla.

That brings the total to at least six.

A father and two of his children died trying to ride out the twister in a mobile home park.

Adding to the grief is the knowledge that warning sirens in the city were apparently damaged during another storm early saturday and did not sound as the deadly twister moved in.
