(NECN: Josh Brogadir, Cranston, R.I.) - With waters rising and jeopardizing the integrity of nearby roads, city official in Cranston, Rhode Island began evacuating residents along the Pawtuxet River late Monday night.
NECN's Josh Brogadir talked with Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, who said seventeen homes along Natick Ave. were being evacuated because the road itself was in danger of breaking down on one side, and residents were already cut off on the other end of the street by damage from flooding earlier this month.
Fung says it is a difficult situation, made worse because rivers that had flooded earlier in the month had not fully receded in the city. Fung says he expects fire crews will be busy with evacuations through the night.
