Flash Floods Close Dozens of Vermont Schools and Roads

(NECN: Jack Thurston) - Dozens of schools and roads are closed after dangerous flash floods swept through Vermont.

Officials in Burlington, Vermont are also closely watching Lake Champlain. The lake is creeping closer to a bike path where some 5,000 athletes will run the final stretch of the Vermont city marathon Sunday. The city's parks and rec director tells the Burlington Free Press she is watching for any major erosion or safety problems. Organizers have already re-routed the race around a flooded pier.

After the storms, more than 100 Vermonters were moved into shelters, and Jack Thurston has much more for us on those violent storms.
