    Survey teams of National Weather Service Meteorologists confirm FourTornadoes struck New England Wednesday Evening July 20, 2010. Here aretheir findings. More heat and storms are on the way Friday to Sunday..seemingly endless pattern. Also, Tropical Storm Bonnie is movingtoward south Florida.

    THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY ME HAS CONFIRMED A TORNADO NEAR
    GORHAM IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY MAINE ON 7/21/10.

    THE TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN ON EAST WEBSTER ROAD IN BUXTON
    PRODUCING MINOR DAMAGE. IT TRAVELED EAST ON A SEMI-CONTINUOUS PATH THROUGH
    THE TOWN OF GORHAM BEFORE LIFTING AT THE INTERSECTION OF ROUTE 237
    AND 25. THE TORNADO SNAPPED OR UPROOTED THOUSANDS OF TREES ALONG
    PORTIONS OF ITS TRACK. THE GREATEST DAMAGE WAS NEAR THE GORHAM
    SAVINGS HEADQUARTERS WHERE MAXIMUM WINDS WERE ESTIMATED AT NEAR 90
    MPH...CAUSING THE TORNADO TO BE RATED AN EF1 ON THE ENHANCED
    FUJITA SCALE. THE TORNADO WAS ON THE GROUND FOR ABOUT 5 MILES AND
    HAD A MAXIMUM WIDTH OF ABOUT 350 YARDS.

    MANY POWERLINES WERE DOWNED...WITH REPORTS OF TWO CARS DAMAGED BY
    FALLEN TREES. MULTIPLE HOMES HAD MINOR DAMAGE WITH TREES DOWNED ON
    HOMES. FARM TRAILERS WERE MOVED 50 TO 75 FEET AND SHEDS WERE
    DESTROYED. IN GORHAM...DAMAGE WAS NOTED ALONG FINN PARKER AND WOOD
    ROADS...LOVERS LANE...KIMBALL ROAD...WENTWORTH DRIVE...LAWN AND
    LIBBY ROADS WAS WELL AS ROUTE 237.

    THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WOULD LIKE THANK THE GORHAM FIRE
    CHIEF AND THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOR
    THEIR ASSISTANCE DURING TODAY`S SURVEY.

    NEAR FOSS AND PATTERSON ROADS. WIND SPEEDS ESTIMATED AT
    90 MPH BASED ON DAMAGE TO TREES AND HOMES IN THE AREA.
    TRACK LENGTH AND WIDTH ARE STILL BEING DETERMINED.

    THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON MA HAS CONFIRMED A TORNADO
    IN BRISTOL IN HARTFORD COUNTY CT ON JULY 21 2010.

    A BRIEF TORNADO TOUCHDOWN OCCURRED NEAR BLAKESLEE AND HIGH
    STREETS WHERE TREE TOPS WERE TWISTED OFF. DAMAGE FROM STRAIGHT
    LINE WINDS WAS ALSO EVIDENT IN THIS AREA. SEVERAL TREES WERE
    UPROOTED.

    THE DAMAGE PATH WAS 1.5 MILES LONG AND 25 YARDS WIDE. DAMAGE WAS
    CONSISTENT WITH WIND GUSTS OF AROUND 90 MPH WHICH IS CLASSIFIED AS
    EF-1 ON THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE.
