Hawaii Escapes Major Tsunami Damage

(NECN: Honolulu, Hawaii) - As Japan recovers from the worst recorded earthquake and tsunami in its history, it appears Hawaii has escaped any major damage.

Warning sirens aired as waves from the 8.9-magnitude earthquake moves towards Hawaii's shores. But as the swells finally reached the islands, no significant damage was reported.

NECN was joined on the phone by Dan Marotta, who is from Boston and is vacationing on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Oahu.
