    NEWSLETTERS

Seven days of 90+ heat in New England, including back to back 100Tues/Weds, is breaking today as Tropical downpours bring much neededrainfall. In some case the rain is excessive, as is the case inFranklin County Vermont, causing brief localized flooding today,Saturday July 10, 2010.

A front from the west, with moisture from Tropical Depression Two aswell as the tropical spin that hit Louisiana, is responsible fro mostof today's rainfall. We are also watching a tropical spin east ofVirginia, this shows up nicely on satellite imagery, that is mostly amiss to our east tonight. Good for us that these two features, frontfrom west and low to our south, are not joining forces. If the two hadjoined we would be facing widespread heavy flooding. We are left withwidespread .5"-1" rainfall, with a few locations like Enosburg FallsVermont picking up 3"+ Rainfall.  Dew points are still near 70 today and tonight. Fog will becomedense overnight as wind remains light and variable. Slightly less humidand brighter weather is here tomorrow, though a few downpours may stillform in eastern and southern New England.
The week ahead features a series of short waves crossing New Englandform west to east with less hot and humid, 80s for most of the week.Scattered rain every other day will help alleviate our short termdrought.
Here are Public Information Statements from National Weather Service on Heat and Floods.
