The National Weather Service has posted flood warnings and advisories from Maine to the Carolinas.
Several inches of new rain over the next three days is expected to push many rivers over their banks.
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has put the National Guard on alert, and soldiers are helping to fill sandbags. Road closures have been reported in several states.
