Heavy Rains Continue to Pour Down Over Thailand

(NECN/MCOT) - The north and northeast of Thailand are still inundated with severe flooding as heavy rains continue in vast area.

In Chiang Rai's Muang district, floodwater covered a vast area after overnight heavy downpour. It is the second time in two days that communities of 500 household suffered flooding paralyzing traffic.

Floodwater at some points was measured up over one meter prompting troops to deploy barges and trucks to provide transportation to the people.

In Pitsanulok province, authorities have worked round the clock to drain floodwater out of rice fields to prevent damage to paddies that just began to bear grain.

Water level in Chi River in northeastern Maha Sarakham province is still in critical level as overflowing water has flooded the province's 13 districts. Provincial administrative authority ordered preventive measures to handle worsened situation as heavy rainfall has been pouring almost every day.

The central province of Nakhon Sawan declared another district disaster-stricken area affecting about 7,700 households.
