Hundreds Killed in Deadly Southern Storms

Update: 6:50 a.m. -- The Associated Press reports that the Alabama death toll has jumped to 128. About 32 people are reported dead in Mississippi alone.

(NECN/CNN) - Several powerful tornadoes have been blowing across the southern United States.

Surveillance shows the powerful winds of a twister blowing away a building at a scrap metal yard in Mississippi.

Those storms have killed at least 83 people, and destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses. Alabama was hit the hardest, where 61 people there are dead.
