Hurricane Alex Heads Toward Texas Coastline

(NECN/CNN) - Hurricane Alex is making its way toward Mexico and Texas.

The National Hurricane Center says the storm has top winds of 80 mph, but is expected to strengthen, possibly into a Category 2 hurricane.

Bands of rain from Alex are already lashing parts of Texas and Mexico.

Many residents have been preparing for days.

Alex is the first June hurricane from the Atlantic since 1995.
