New England is getting ready! If things are being predicted properly, this is going to be the first landfall that New England has experienced since 1991 with Hurricane Bob. Currently, Irene is a category 3 storm, moving northwest located currently the southeastern part of the Bahamas. She has winds of about 120 mph, and is moving at a slow rate at about 12 mph, with a center of about 954 mb. When she reaches New England, she will have weakened to a category 2 hurricane, however she will still bring about heavy rainfall that will make flooding likely.
