John Kerry Announces Additional Money for Pakistan Flood Relief

(NECN/CNN) - The United Nations says the number of people homeless from Pakistan's catastrophic floods has doubled to four million.

In reply, Washington is ramping up assistance.

U.S. Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts was on a one-day visit to Pakistan Thursday when he announced the additional aid.

Kerry announced a boost in emergency aid to $150 million, up from the $90 million in cash and relief goods the U.S. had already delivered.

Kerry took an aerial tour of some of the hardest-hit areas in central Pakistan, where entire villages remain under lakes of brown water.

Reza Sayah reports.
