Maria reached hurricane strength northwest of Bermuda on Thursday, and is racing northeast, leaving the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland directly in her sights. The combination of an accelerating, rapidly moving storm, and her already-powerful winds, will create a strong blast for a small Canadian landmass.
