MassDOT Ready to Combat Snowstorm Head on

(NECN: Nicole Jacobs, Charlton, Mass.) - Along the Massachusetts Turnpike, snow has begun to fall. Roads are clear, visibility is fine and the wind is not out of control. It's the frigid temperatures that are a cause for concern as road conditions will only worsen as the night progresses.

MassDOT is ready to combat the storm head on. They have over 4,000 pieces of equipment ready to roll. Some have already departed and the treatment of roads has started.

"Fortunately the heavy snow is supposed to hit sometime between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. when we expect there to be light traffic on the roads, so it should give us a chance to do our jobs and keep the roads clear," said Frank DePaola of MassDOT.

Drivers are urged to stay off the roads with the worst of the storm yet to hit.
