Mass. Officials Prep for Extreme Cold Weather

MEMA official Peter Judge offers valuable advice on winter storm preparations (Published Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014)

(NECN: Jackie Bruno, Framingham, Mass.) - With frigid temperatures already here in New England, conditions will only deteriorate with Saturday's snow storm on the way. Taking the proper precautions ahead of time is essential.

As temperatures drop, it's important to bundle up and stay warm because this arctic chill can be dangerous.

"You want to monitor yourself, your kids and pets, said Peter Judge, a MEMA official. Judge also stressed the importance of monitoring your extremeties if caught outside because hypothermia can set in. "It's not something you want to fool around with," Judge added.

Also, make sure your car is equipped with blankets, flashlights, batteries, snacks, scrapers and jumper cables. Remember to wear a big jacket, hats, scarves, and gloves. Also warm boots can aid in traveling through the snow.
