(NECN/CNN) - A deadly tornado has leveled parts of a Missouri city killing 89, destroying homes and even damaging a hospital in Joplin, Missouri when it hit 6 p.m. local time on Sunday. The number of deaths are expected to rise as Gov. Jay Nixon says the city is focusing on rescuing efforts.
St. John's Medical Center in Joplin also took a major hit and a make-shift hospital has been set up in front of the structure to help the injured. A Red Cross spokesperson says about 75 % of the city is gone. The system that moved through the region also caused tornadoes from Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
