Matt Noyes Tests Groundhog Prediction

(NECN) - NECN Meteorologist Matt Noyes on Groundhog Day decided to see if he could see his own shadow.

With the help of the NECN Metro Traffic Chopper and Metro Traffic reporter Scott Montminy hovering over the studios, Matt emerged reluctantly.

After a few moments outside Matt stated that he did see his shadow.

German tradition holds that if a hibernating "animal" sees its shadow on Feb. 2 - the Christian holiday of Candlemas - winter will last another six weeks.

If no shadow is seen, legend says spring will come early.

Not sure if there is a tradition for Meteorologist seeing their shadows.

Special thanks to chopper pilot Joe Morgan for all the help.
