Mercury Rising in Vermont

(NECN: Anya Huneke, Burlington, VT) - The mercury is rising in Vermont. While the weekend was toasty warm, this week is turning out to be downright hot. The heat is especially apparent because of the cool, wet weather that closed out June.

If you don't like the heat, Vermont, and the rest of the northeast, for that matter - is not the place to be this week. The forecast shows high temperatures at or above 90-degrees straight through to Friday- thanks to a high pressure system parked over the region.

It prompted many in Burlington to round out the holiday weekend on Lake Champlain. Whether on motor boat .. inflatable raft .. or kayak.

Though the latter - requiring exercise - seemed to be the least popular Monday.

After a somewhat cool, wet June .. many are not complaining about this string of weather. Knowing summer will inevitably end too soon for some.
