New England Farmers Welcome Rain

(NECN) - One group of New Englanders is happy to see the rain Sunday -- local farmers.

At Farmer Dave's in Dracut, Mass., the owner says that many plants got a head start this year due to the warm weather. Dry conditions actually helped with planting, but ahead of Sunday's rain, the water level at the farm was too low.

"We want to get a jump on the season, taking advantage of warm weather, but ti's just been so dry. For the first time in many, many years, we've had to irrigate in April," said David Dumaresq.

Dumaresq says that in the spring, plants don't need much water because they are smaller, but they do need more in the summer months.
